Dr. Gragnaniello is a neurosurgeon and award-winning author whose surgical training spans the globe—Europe, Australia, and North America—with a focus on surgery of the spine and the skull base. He has a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathophysiology and Neuroscience and has completed fellowships in both Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Neurosurgery and the Spine.
Dr. Gragnaniello was recognized as a finalist for Junior Doctor of the Year by the British Medical Journal and a Rotary Foundation International Ambassador Scholar. He has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences as well as distinguished faculty member at hands-on courses including the Saint Louis University’s Combined Ventricular and Skull Base Endoscopy Course, in collaboration with the International Federation of Neuroendoscopy.
Dr. Gragnaniello was awarded the Prose Award in 2015 by the Association of American Publishers for his textbook Neurosurgery: Tricks of the Trade, the highest distinction for a textbook in clinical medicine. He has authored seven textbooks, including Operative Cranial Neurosurgical Anatomy which will be translated to Spanish and distributed in South America in 2019 via a partnership between Thieme and Amolca Medicina. Dr. Gragnaniello has published over 85 book chapters in the field of neurosurgery and over 30 peer reviewed papers; he is an active book and journal reviewer for prestigious medical journals in the areas of skull base, cerebrovascular neurosurgery, and spine.
Dr. Gragnaniello is passionate about improving healthcare and was recently part of Georgetown University’s inaugural ‘Strategy Saturday’ event in Washington, D.C. as an expert healthcare panelist—alongside business and industry leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs—to discuss the future of healthcare and his interest in developing innovative surgical techniques and instruments for safer, cost-effective surgical procedures.
