JSS Annual Report 2024

We are pleased to present the 2024 Annual Report of Journal of Spine Surgery. Highlights from this year’s report include:

JSS has published 78 manuscripts, among which there are 43 Original Articles, 11 Review Articles. The pageviews of JSS have increased steadily, with a total of 351,157 hits.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our editorial board members, guest editors, reviewers, authors and readers, and we look forward to continuing our work with you in the new year.

Interviews with Editorial Board Members

JSS features a distinguished editorial board, the members of which continue to instill the power of their expertise for the journal’s development. By launching this column, we are glad to introduce to you some of them in the form of interviews, in which they will share their unique career experiences and perspectives. We believe their insights will shed light on the knowledge of related fields.

Journal of Spine Surgery 2023 CiteScore Released: 5.6

We are pleased to announce that the Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS) has received its 2023 CiteScore: 5.6, ranking 58 out of 551 journals in the Surgery category.

Furthermore, we are delighted to highlight the remarkable achievements made by all AME journals in the CiteScore ranking.

Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS) is now a member of the Surgery Journal Editors Group (SJEG)

Beginning in September 2022, the Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS) adopted the Surgery Journal Editors Group (SJEG) joint statement and pledges to "strive for diversity in the peer review process and among the editorial boards and editorial leaders."

Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS) is now a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

Starting from July 2021, AME Publishing Company is formally recognized a publisher member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and over 60 AME-published journals become a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as part of AME’s commitment to best practice in scholarly publishing. Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS) is among the list of COPE membership.

AME entered an official partnership with Publons to enhance wide-ranging recognition for reviewers

AME Publishing Company entered an official partnership with Publons, a product of Clarivate Analytic Company (which owns Web of Science, EndNote, ScholarOne, among many others), as of April 2020. Around 60 AME journals’ peer review systems are now integrated seamlessly into the Publons platform (https://publons.com/about/home). The partnership was done to recognize our expert peer reviewers spontaneously for their review contribution.

Implementation of transparent peer review at Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS)

With a commitment to openness and accountability, and to increase the level of transparency throughout our peer review process, our editorial office has decided to implement a transparent peer review process as an option for all manuscripts submitted to JSS from June 01, 2020.

Application of the CARE Guideline as reporting standard in the Journal of Spine Surgery

The Journal of Spine Surgery welcomes case reports which are supposed to report new observations of diseases, clinical findings or novel/unique treatment outcomes relevant to practitioners in the fields of medicine.

For completeness and transparency for published case reports, the Journal of Spine Surgery will apply the CARE guidelines (1) as reporting standards for case reports starting from October 16, 2019. For any submission of case report after the date:

Welcome to Journal of Spine Surgery (JSS), an Open-Access journal devoted to exploring many contemporary issues affecting spine surgery, patient care and the basic sciences that form the foundation of surgical management. The Journal of Spine Surgery is intended to be an international spine journal with an Australasian platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, new findings and developments in the treatment and outcomes of spinal care.
